Introducing the Youngest Graduate of Fullerton College: A Remarkable Achievement
Get ready to meet an extraordinary individual at Fullerton College’s graduation ceremony this Saturday. Clovis Hung, a 12-year-old prodigy, will proudly walk across the stage to receive not just one, but five degrees.
Clovis began his journey at Fullerton College when he was only nine years old through the Special Admit program. This unique opportunity allowed him to earn college credits while completing his home school curriculum. He was inspired to join the college after witnessing another remarkable young graduate, Jack Rico, who accomplished his graduation at the age of 13 with four degrees. Hung aimed to surpass that achievement.
During the commencement ceremony, Clovis will accept five Associate of Arts degrees in various fields. These include History, Social Sciences, Social Behavior and Self-Development, Arts and Human Expression, and Science and Mathematics. When interviewed by the campus news service, he expressed his immense pride and credited his hard work for this accomplishment.
Clovis’s mother describes him as a highly motivated, curious, and mature child, despite his young age. While he enjoys typical childhood activities like basketball, video games, and participating in the Boy Scouts, his true passion lies in learning.
His educational journey began in 2020 when he enrolled in a history class on world civilizations. Although there were initial concerns about the challenges of higher learning for such a young student, Clovis quickly proved his capabilities and fell in love with college life. Encouraged by his success, he eagerly took on more classes, gradually expanding his knowledge and abilities.
Fullerton College officials warmly welcomed Clovis, appreciating his unique presence on campus. Biology Professor Kenneth Collins describes him as a hard-working college student with an inquisitive nature, embodying a healthy blend of maturity and childlike curiosity. Other students view him as a respected peer and provide him with support and encouragement, treating him like a younger brother.
Clovis’s aspirations extend beyond his academic achievements. In the upcoming semester, he has been elected as a Senator for the Associated Students. He intends to keep taking STEM classes at the community college until he feels prepared enough to apply to universities. Additionally, he is working towards obtaining his pilot license, which he hopes to achieve by the age of 16. In the long term, he envisions a career that involves helping others, considering paths such as becoming a pediatrician, a commercial pilot, or pursuing a position in the aerospace industry.
Despite his remarkable accomplishments, Clovis still enjoys pursuing his other interests during his free time. He spends quality moments with friends and family, takes care of his beloved pets—a dog named Chep Chep and a cat named Cotton—and dedicates time to his hobbies.
This Saturday, Clovis Hung and approximately 900 other Fullerton graduates will accept their diplomas at 9 a.m. on Sherbeck Field. It is clear that Clovis has already left a lasting impression on those who have encountered him, and his achievements are truly awe-inspiring.
